2009 Resolutions

Here's my resolution for 2009:

No resolutions.

Here's the deal. I'm worn out. I'm doing the very best I can with everything. And it's just got to be good enough. So far, I think it is. Sometimes it's not. But usually it is.

But trying to be 'even better' in any sense is just crazy. Any effort I make is only going to wear me out further. I'm plenty good enough as is.

(enter Stewart Smalley here. Gosh darnit.)

There are things I'd like to do. I'd like to comment on people's blogs more. I'd like to be a better housekeeper. I'd even like to take things easier and be kinder to myself. I'd like to expect less of myself.

But, whatever. If it happens, great. If not, so what. I'm fine just as I am.

So, for the first time in my adult life: no list. No expectations. No wishes, even.

Feels pretty good.

***
However, I would like to continue reading lots. And lots.

And lots.

That's something that I will gladly do.

Happy New Year, everyone.
