My mom married a handsome cowboy this weekend and we couldn't be happier for her.
This is what all the cake prep was for... and voila! Cake came out wonderfully!
There were, of course, a few mishaps along the way, and I definitely am not very talented with a frosting spatula, but I thought it turned out pretty well. I collected the ferns and blackberry leaves/berries from their house and also on-site. The flowers are also local. (Well, the orange ones on top are from Safeway...). It was yummy and pretty and casual and everything I hoped it would be.
We all pitched in and it was really fun. I had a great time hanging out with Mom and Jim and his family, and then the rest of my family arrived and that was ALSO fun. Have I mentioned how much I love my family? I do. A lot. Um, and isn't my mom pretty? And my brother handsome?
After the wedding, we got to eat the leftovers. Matt decided to make short work of the ENTIRE CHEESECAKE someone brought.
We like cheesecake.
It was terrific. Lots of love and family. And now, I'm really, really tired. But I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. That cake was baked with every bit of love I have for my mom and her new life. Congratulations and many, many years of joy to you.
