A Little Piece Of Electrical Heaven

We are sitting in our nice, cool, breezy apartment (all five of us). Actually, in our nice, cool, breezy bedroom. The rest of the apartment is still oven-like.

How is this possible? By the magic of an in-window air conditioner that I, putting on Fix-it Stud Hat, installed after work today. I had to drive down to the Hayward mall in commuter traffic to pick it up from Sears, but the minute it (finally) started blowing cool air into the room, I knew it was worth it.

Note to self (and others tempted to cool off sweltering apartments in this way): the middle of a heat wave is not the best time to install a big, heavy, bulky air conditioning unit. Also, I do not recommend wearing platform sandals while attempting this maneuver. However, desperate times call for desperate measures.

$100 and a couple hours well-spent. Sometimes, it's the little luxuries that have the biggest payoff.
