On the recent Oregon trip, Matt and I went to Tillamook to visit Mom. Of course we had to stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. And get, um, ice cream. It was hard to choose the flavor.
I ended up getting marionberry pie. It might be the best ice cream ever. Ever.
Matt got Mountain Blackberry (or something like that). He was happy.
Well, we were both happy. What's not to like, eating ice cream with your sibling? I felt about eight years old, eating ice cream after fishing. Of course, we never had ice cream like this from the Alsea country store.
Then we went to Mom's, where we had a little birthday celebration. She has an antique crazy quilt project, finishing an old project that Jim's grandmother (I believe) had started. The stitches were beautiful. I love crazy quilts. Someday I'd like to make one. Well, maybe.
My mom grows the most beautiful fuschias, always has.
They inspired the birthday card I painted for her. The colors aren't quite accurate in this photo, but you get the idea.
Their new house is just across the highway from the beach. In the morning, Matt and I headed over to take some pictures.
It is a really beautiful, calm, quiet beach. Especially first thing in the morning.
It was so pretty. Then it was off to work for the rest of the day. I can't wait to go back to the beach!

Anyway, more photos and blogging coming soon. Check out Persephone for photos of the birthday feast!
