Yesterday was very busy, however. I was determined to make the kitchen Work. As in, be functional, if not beautiful (yet). I succeeded, and I also succeeded in making a big huge list of things that I need to make it Work Better.
- Spice rack for inside broom closet door
- Organization shelving for big cupboards
- Folding stepstool
- Etc.
Also need some other random things to make the already-good apartment Better. And I also want to continue weeding out the things that we don't love or use. Simpler is better.
Some things stay the same, however. Like, kitty litter still goes everywhere. But maybe we'll be more motivated to sweep it up daily. I got a lilac-colored covered litter box for the bathroom. Who wants to look at poopy litter? Not me. The cats are okay with it so far. It's called a Booda. That makes me laugh. Tiger Lily in the Booda.
It's another gray day here, which is a little depressing. I don't usually mind, but when you're putting a house in order, it's nice to have happy sunshine lighting the space so everything looks better. I did manage to figure out how to hook up TiVo again, which I'm quite proud of. I'm such a Fix-It. I also put up another closet rod. I almost had to use the power tools, but didn't need to (sadly).
So, today we are supposed to go to the old place and finish up paint prep and cleaning. I really, really don't want to. I want to stay here and put together Terri's bedside table and organize the living room and move furniture and finish laundry. I don't want to go back to that place. We only have a week left, though (including one Saturday), so I guess we ought to, but the day is getting away and I know Terri won't feel like it either. I really don't want to. Today might be one of those days for making a bad decision like not doing the chore you're supposed to do in order to stay home and do the chores you really want to do, even though you'll end up paying for it by having to spend hours over there after work every day this week...
I wish we could afford a cleaner and painter.
Well. The day isn't getting any younger, and the house remains in disarray, and Terri remains asleep (thank goodness, she needs it), so I might as well start on the things I want to do, right?
Right.
