It's been one of those weeks where every day I wake up and wish that I hadn't. Or, maybe it's that I wake up and wish that we were all in Hawaii. Or at a mountain cabin, far, far, away. It's been a long... well, a long time. We need a vacation. We need a break. We are tired (well, Terri and I are. The kitties seem to be just fine, thank you very much). Nothing is particularly wrong, I'm just feeling drained and can't wait to rest up this weekend. I hope it stays overcast and cool. Nothing like needing to stay in bed all weekend, and being foiled by an obnoxiously bright sunny day with people having BBQs (with loud stereos) and the apartment being too hot to stay in bed.
I'm just sayin'.
It's my favorite season and I really want to get the camera out and capture my favorite things: piles of leaves, the pretty light, people in scarves, Halloween decorations. I signed up for NaBoPoMo (National Blog Posting Month): in November, I will blog every day. It's good practice.
(What exactly am I practicing for?)
But anyway. I'm feeling drained. Tired. Worn out. I know I need to do something different. Time to pull out the arsenal:
- Better food. Fall favorites include: squash, potatoes, apples, spinach, soups of all kinds. I need a different breakfast. Oatmeal is getting boring.
- Exercise. My knee injury (from running the marathon) is holding back my enthusiasm, but my dad says to keep running on it, and icing and resting inbetween. He knows what he's talking about, so I'm back at it this weekend.
- More reading: Reading is definitely a stress reliever for me. I've got a big stack of books to plow through in the coming months. I can't wait.
- Creativity: The art room is coming along. We have a big blank wall in the kitchen (time to make some new art!). I have some ideas for some fall foliage collages... just for fun. I think that would do me good.
- More snuggling. 'Cause you can always use more snuggling.
It's been really stressful and busy for the past couple of months. After next week, it should be much better. I'm going to declare October another Take Care Of Self Month. It's my favorite month, my favorite season, and my favorite holiday. I'm going to enjoy it, dammit.
