Skincare: What Finally Worked

Ok, so I have struggled to find the perfect combination for my sensitive (and in my 30s, slightly breakout-prone) skin. I think I've finally figured it out. I've been redness/breakout-free for 4 months since starting all this. Here it is, for all to see.
  1. Wash face with GENTLE cleanser. Like Cetaphil, or whatever is almost not even soap, it's so gentle. As soon as I run out of my current stuff, I’m going to get some of this stuff.
  2. Spritz face with and gently pat in Dr. Hauschka Clarifying Toner.
  3. Gently massage over whole face 2 drops (and whatever’s left on the tip of dispenser) Dr. Hauschka Normalizing Day Oil
  4. After a few minutes, I then smooth on a large pea-sized dollop of this Alba sunscreen. I was worried about breakouts, but haven’t had any.

The other thing that Dr. Hauschka recommends is NOT using a night cream/moisturizer. I reluctantly followed the advice and it has really worked. So at night I just wash my face, spritz on a little of the toner again, and pat on a little light eye cream, and that’s it.

Oh, the other thing is this mineral foundation makeup: Bare Minerals. They want you to buy this huge ‘starter pack’ but I just use the one pot of the single shade. I’ve heard that the Mineral Veil is good to ‘set’ everything. I personally just use a teensy bit of plain cornstarch, with a big fluffy powder brush. They want you to buff on a ton of that makeup for “flawless finish” but I hate that look. After all the new skin care stuff, I’ve found that I only have to use a very, very small amount of the makeup, just over my nose and a little on my chin.

Anyway. That’s probably more than you want to know. But it really has seemed to help. For anyone out there who's tried fifteen-million different facial moisturizers in the past year (like I had), this is what worked for me. A little pricey, but I use very, very little of everything so it's lasting a really long time.
