This is the view of the city before the fireworks started. I like that I managed to even catch a star or planet in the upper left.
Then the first blooms and bursts began... we saw the San Francisco ones, the Sausalito ones, the Berkeley Marina ones, and some in the south (Redwood City?) .

So, that was pretty fun. It was chilly by the water, but really fun to see all the fireworks simultaneously.
We started off the day by going swimming in the Berkeley hills, by UC Berkeley. It's called Strawberry Canyon -- a big swimming pool/rec area surrounded by green leafy hills. I should have taken a photo but I didn't want to bring my camera since we knew it would be crowded. We went swimming for awhile, and then got dressed and went out for more adventures.
We next went to IKEA to look for a dresser and a computer desk (Terri bought her new laptop yesterday, so we're transforming the office into the art room, with a small desk for laptop docking). We found some good possibilities, but left with plants and a new duvet cover that matches all our myriad colors of sheets in a beautiful striped pattern.
Then we came home and fiddled around the house for awhile, until it was time to go to the fireworks. Now we're home, in bed, both absorbed in our laptops. Ahh, togetherness. Our next door neighbors have some illegal fireworks which keep going off and scaring the cats. I appreciate the fun, but our poor kitties are ready for a break!

On another note, it's really so nice to have Terri home, relaxed, and not so stressed.

(No, this photo wasn't staged!). Contrary to what the above photo shows, Terri has been hard at work sorting through the house and doing lots of cleaning-out. She's done the hall closet, some of the office/art room, the bathroom, etc. I think this Saturday we'll probably do a lot of purging. The goal is to get everything unused or unloved out of the house. This wasn't even my idea! I love it. So many wonderful things: She's home (which is the best part), she's relaxing, she's feeling better, she's sorting through everything, she's cleaning the house... it's just really wonderful in so many ways. She's so happy and relaxed and really starting to get better. What a relief for everyone.
