Home Improvements

This weekend we did a little home improvement. Saturday was spent on hands and knees, scrubbing the floors. When you're in the mood, there's really nothing like doing a good deep cleaning. The house needs more, but it was a good start.

Terri had some bathroom make0ver ideas, so Sunday went and got the supplies and then spent the afternoon decorating. Bought shower curtain and rugs, new sink accessories, new towels (pretty much just for show, since that towel rack is kind of rickety)... and I bought fabric and made curtains since I couldn't find anything that went with everything else. The curtains were a 'good enough' job (don't look too closely) but it all looks nice now. I wish I'd taken 'before' photos, it was pretty drab.

Next up: repainting that green side table (above) to match the pretty blue sink accessories, and then possibly repainting the whole bathroom (landlord has offered to do this once we choose a color), and then new art for the walls. We're thinking colorful birds, I like the idea of a bird-and-plant bathroom.

The other rooms in the house remain sort of half- or three-quarters done (decorated) but we're working on it. For however long we're here at this house, it's nice to feel like it's getting cozier.

I think this is the first time in my adult life that I've had an actual coordinated, decorated bathroom. I can't wait to see when it's all 'done'.
