Well I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good
I loved this song when I was little, because I, too, loved rainy nights! Tonight's one of those perfect rainy nights. Complete with some hail, some thunder, lots of wind... it's just perfect. I'm all snug in our house, kitties lounging everywhere, the heater on, Live 365 playing nice evening music. I made some yummy soup, I have applesauce cake to eat later on...
The only thing that's missing is my sweetie. As much as I love the rainy night, I'm feeling a little lonely. More than a little. I'd like to play my piano keyboard, but I need an extension cord, so I'll get one tomorrow. I ran out of canvasses, so I can't paint. I could draw, I could bead, but I think I'll settle for a warm bed and a dorky documentary.
And can I just say one more time how happy I am about the weather? I feel so cozy. When I was in college, we had some massive flooding in Corvallis. The town was pretty much cut off, all the highways flooded, the parks were flooded. It just wouldn't stop raining. My boyfriend at the time lived by the creek, luckily a little bit above on a tiny hill. His property completely flooded, and he had to paddle out in a little boat to come get me when I came to visit. His house was on a tiny island. It was pretty bad, but I kind of loved it. Our street here gets a little flooded when it rains like this... I'm sure no one's house floods, but I have secret fantasies of waking up and realizing I can't leave the house because I'm flooded in. Only for a few hours, of course, but long enough for some adventures (what shoes could I wear in the water? Could I make some small boats? Watch news of the flooding on TV?).
Here's hoping you and yours are cozied up tonight. Whether it's watching Kon-Tiki or an Oprah special or reading a great book or working on art or just hanging out... it's a rare rainy night. Enjoy it.
